Receive an Acceptance Letter Obtain a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning institution. Students accepted at DLI can apply for a study permit.

Check Eligibility DLI letter of acceptance, proof of funds, no criminal record, good health, and proof to depart from Canada once the study permit has expired.

Gather Required Documents  Valid passport, letter of acceptance, proof of sufficient funds, Medical examination, letter of explanation, etc.

English or French Language Proficiency If your course is in English or French, provide evidence of language proficiency, such as IELTS or TOEFL.

Proof of Funds Funds to cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation to your home country.

Medical Examination You must undergo a medical exam as part of the study permit application process.

Pay the Application Fee  Pay the study permit application fee, which is non-refundable, and keep the payment receipt as proof.

Biometrics Appointment Depending on your country of residence, you may need to visit a VAC to provide biometrics as part of the application process.

Online Application Submit your study permit application online through the official Government of Canada website or a visa application center (VAC) in your country.

Wait for a Decision After submitting your application, wait for a decision from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Receive the study permit If your application is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction and a study permit.
